The Hungarian artist Alice Endresz was the daughter of Ferenc Endresz (1846–1919), senior railway inspector, and Ida Lőke (1863–1919). Between 1916 and 1923, she studied with Lajos Deák-Ébner and János Vaszary at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. On 22 April 1924, she married the psychiatrist Gyula Keresztes in Budapest. In 1931 she took part in the founding of the New Group of the Association of Hungarian Artists and then became a member of the resulting New Eight. The group of female painters who called themselves the Pictorinas introduced themselves to the Hungarian public on October 31, 1931. According to the critics, in addition to Art Deco, influences from earlier movements such as Brücke Expressionism or Primitivism, which did not previously exist in Hungary, can be seen in their works. Endresz Alice's art is characterized by genre-like, somewhat grotesque, but mostly cheerful and energetic compositions. She especially enjoyed working at Lake Balaton. In 1999, the Hungarian National Gallery held an exhibition of the work of female artists, which also included some of their works. Further artists and styles: Béni Ferenczy, Endre Vadász, Tibor Hetényi, Tibor Gergely, Brigitta Videky, Maria Lazar, Zsigmond Cselényi Walleshausen, Geza Boross, Ibolya Csengery, Gitta Gyenes, Ferenc Erdély, Ilona Bereczky, Olga Székely-Kovács, Maria Barta, Alice Endresz, Jenö Szabados, Gyula Derkovits, Jozsef Rippl-Ronay, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Victor Vasarely und Vilmos Aba-Novak
