The author was the chancellor of the Principality of Transylvania and one of the prominent figures in Transylvanian politics. His work, which has unparalleled source value, was published for the first time in Nagyszeben a year earlier. Two versions are known. The title page of the other variant shows the place of printing and the title "Rerum Transylvaniae."
