Czinke was a poet, linguist, and secondary school teacher in Pécs, Szombathely and Sopron. Following the death of Miklós Révai, he became a professor at the University of Pest. He became involved in a language reform debate with Kazinczy's supporters, the most famous of which was his altercation with László Tóth Ungvárnémeti.
